Our first major summer project came under way in Parade Gardens on July 4, 2016. The first day of the summer school involved splitting the children at the Community Centre into the appropriate age groups, then assigning two RTE members to each group. We then immediately got to work, planning lessons for the children and engaging them in fun and educational activities. The two weeks that followed were tiring, but equally rewarding! Reading, writing, mathematics and ring games were just a few of the activities we engaged the children in.
On the last day, the children showed us their appreciation by showcasing their many talents in a small presentation. Look out, World! We have some talented singers and dancers in Parade Gardens! We're sad that it came to an end so quickly, but we are confident that we made a positive impact on all the young, eager minds present for the summer school. RTE would like to thank the members of the CDC who ensured the safety and organization of everyone present for the duration of the program. We would also like to thank everyone for supporting, both morally and financially, this worthwhile project.
